I am exceedingly hopeful about my future, or what is left of it, at now thirty-two years of age, I have wasted far too much- yet I am still full of hope and optimism for what the future has in store for me. I am ever a man of the future. Never one for practicality. I always am looking into the distance, wondering about a dream or far off place, and although this may be a flaw of my character, since I am never in the present moment fully, it does give meaning to my life in a strange way. The search for meaning is essentially the meaning in itself for me.
Being that I am a man of the future, and an artist, I am not happy with just pursuing literary means of expression in words and endless texts. Few people in modern society have the patience or the attention span to sit and read, it is a lost art, since so few people are literate. And few people are capable of reading well. For this reason, I am certain to become more than just a writer. This is not to say that writing is not valuable. It is certainly my first love, and the highest labor of my life. But, it is to say, that I want to branch out into all creative means available to me. There is so much available to an artist nowadays.
The advent of digital technology has dropped the price of film production, and put great gear and cameras into the public's hand. Music production and filmmaking, all these things can be done at home, with a mere fraction of the funding and facilities once required. That is not to say that a professional effort does not require some funding- it does. But, I love the potential to grow into an artist of multiple forms. I am already in love with photography, and am moving to experiment with it fully.
What I want to become is a new kind of artist. One who becomes proficient in many kinds of art making. And I believe this is the future of great artists like me, to adopt a more fluid outlook of the arts and their potential to excel in multi-forms.
